Camera Calibration

Zoller+Fröhlich GmbH (Z+F) develops highly accurate 2D and 3D laser measuring systems used for three-dimensional measurement in a wide variety of application areas. These include, for example, the detection of the actual state of factory buildings, the measurements of crime and accident sites as well as a detailed inventory and damage assessment in archeology.

In cooperation with Z+F, V&R developed various software components that extend the existing software for the post-processing and the analysis of raw data of high precision 2D and 3D laser measuring systems.

Camera Calibration

Often 3D laser scanners are combined with panoramic cameras to colorize the measured data with the object texture. For correct and precise superposition of the data, it is important to know the exact relative position of the two sensors. For this purpose, V&R developed a software component that determines this location automatically, and the recorded panorama picture is modified so that the data of the two sensors can be mapped perfectly. This way, precise 3D point clouds with the precise color texture can be produced automatically.
