V&R Vision & Robotics GmbH

V&R solves algorithmically and technically challenging problems for customers in the field of capturing and analyzing sensor data using images and 3D point clouds.

Our focus lies on:

  • SLAM mapping solutions using terrestrial laser scanners and other sensors
  • Semantic evaluation of 2D and 3D data
  • Environment perception and recognition based on individual or fused sensors
  • Localization and positioning solutions even without GNSS

Who are we?

The company was founded as a spin-off from the University of Koblenz in 2008. Originally, the range of tasks revolved around the topic of robotics, in particular mapping and localization. Over time, this has expanded to include the following areas:

Guiding principle

With highly specialized software, we support our customers in increasing the innovative strength of their products and services, successfully securing their competitiveness and opening up new market opportunities.

Cooperation

V&R supports customers in all project phases, from the preparation of an initial feasibility study and the provision of a proof of concept to the development of market-ready solutions and their integration into products with customized software as well as suitable hardware and sensor technology. This takes place in various forms of cooperation:

  • Studies: With an initial study and the rapid realization of a prototype solution, a proof of concept is available at an early stage. Based on this, experience and feedback from initial practical applications can be incorporated into a market-ready development. In this way, a constantly refining result is made possible in an iterative process.
  • Demonstrators: If necessary, we construct individually designed hardware demonstrators.
  • Licensing models: V&R has an extensive library of ready-to-use modules in the above-mentioned areas. These can be flexibly integrated and adapted to customer projects. The type of integration and the respective license agreements can be adapted to the possibilities and requirements of each project. In this way, problems can be solved particularly quickly and cost-effectively.
  • Customized software development: For special problems that cannot or only partially be solved using existing components or only by orchestrating the components, we develop individual software adapted to the problem in question.

In all cases we rely on

  • Clean software realization
  • Good interoperability with other software modules through the use of standard formats (avoidance of vendor lock-in)
  • Use of existing open source software
